Iranian-born Canadian visual artist Mohadese Movahed focuses on painting as the core of her studio practice. Her paintings explore the urban environment as a repository of memory and lived experience. Through layered compositions of walls, windows, urban fragments, photographs, graffiti, and architectural motifs, she examines how shared spaces become charged with personal and collective histories. Drawing from both Iranian and Canadian visual cultures, her imagined environments reflect a cross-cultural identity shaped by movement between places and the overlapping memories embedded within them.
